March 13
Today was a short, but exhausting workout for the race on Saturday. 20 minute fartlek- 1 minute on hard and then 1 minute off. I am going to start doing harder fartleks to prepare for longer races since I have been abandoned by my track team.

Wed. Run
Fast run at town lake. It was awesome. I think I saw Derek Yorek.
Wed. (3/12/08)
Location: Town Lake
Time: 42:00- including a few stops for traffic
Distance: 5 miles approx.
Tuesday Hill
Tuesday I ran with my pal Arthur, who is incredible at distance running. He took me to a long hill that I couldn't handle a bunch of times back to back so while he ran that I ran another just across from it that was about 100m long maybe and very very steep. I an that 5 times and then 3 backwards- it hurt, but it was a nice change from the track. Total we probably did like 4-5 miles of running including the warm up and jog back home, which was more like a temp run for me.

Monday
Today was supposed to be a hard workout day, but it rained out here for most of the time so I just went to the gym and worked out pretty hard with weights there. This afternoon it cleared up and I was going to run 3 miles then a 1 mile time trial, but that did not go well. The weights I did for my legs at the gym made me sore and shaky so I did not finish, but I got about 4 miles of jogging/walking/running in.
Tomorrow I am going to run with my friend Arthur. He wants to do a cool down from what he did today, but I need a hill workout so I'll see how it goes.
Do I risk injury if I do an easy long (4-5) mile run in the morning then a hill workout in the afternoon?

Sunday Run
Today the wind out here in the boonies of Buda was fierce. It was cloudy and the winds blew between 20 and 25 mph. I didn't want to run, but I forced myself to go out. I started out too hard then slowed down then finished strong on the last mile.
If there is one thing I can't stand its the wind. I've run in 100% humidity with 90 degree weather; I've run at 7000 feet in 12 degree weather, but the only thing I really can't take is the wind.

The First
Hello and welcome! This is my first time to write a blog so I hope it is good and people read it. It would be good to start the first post off with a basic workout description:
Since I was left behind the last few days before spring break by the top 3 distance runners on my track team for a meet in Houston, I had to run by myself. I am hoping to get some hard, beneficial training in over the break so I will be ready to hit the track hard in the 1600m race for the next meet.
Saturday (3/8/08)
Long Run- Town Lake
Distance: <6miles
Time: About 50 minutes?
Comments: This was an easy run I did with my dad. It felt good to go kind of slow and easy without my other team mates who usually push the pace to an uncomfortable level for me.
